The photo below was taken underneath Saltburn Pier on a particularly dry but windy August afternoon. The sand was being blown down the beach at a tremendous speed which made for some interesting photo opportunities. Obviously not wanting to get sand in my camera I sought refuge underneath the pier and noticed that sand blowing past resulted in unusual shapes and textures on the sand. Cropping to 16:9, converting to B&W and ramping up the contrast gives the final image a kind of surreal, almost out of this world look and feel to it!
