Flower Power

20120104-210626.jpg

I thought for a change I would post a picture of a person rather than a city or landscape. When Mia was about 12 months old she loved nothing more than walking around the garden and pulling all the flower heads off. Now this wouldn’t be so bad if it was the autumn and the flowers needed dead heading, but as it was just the start of summer this meant we spent a lot of time chasing after here frantically trying to stop her from destroying the whole garden! The flip side was that during sunny days it made for some great photo opportunities as Mia sat and “played” with the flowers!

Wind Swept

The photo below was taken underneath Saltburn Pier on a particularly dry but windy August afternoon. The sand was being blown down the beach at a tremendous speed which made for some interesting photo opportunities. Obviously not wanting to get sand in my camera I sought refuge underneath the pier and noticed that sand blowing past resulted in unusual shapes and textures on the sand. Cropping to 16:9, converting to B&W and ramping up the contrast gives the final image a kind of surreal, almost out of this world look and feel to it!

As we move forward lets take time to look back…

I thought I would kick off the New Year by posting a few shots taken during an albeit brief, but fantastic trip to Tokyo in February 2008. I can’t remember the name of the tower that these photos were taken from, but one thing is for sure and that is the views of Tokyo and Mount Fuji are fantastic. Enjoy!

Happy New Year and I hope 2012 is a good year for you all.
